now these are the questions that i need help with..

* which gpu is more suited to my needs?
* will the psu support all this extra weight?
* would i need some cooling setup?
* am i splurging too much on the mobo[all i want is SATA3 and USB3 support]?
* what better feature does the Z68 mobo provide and is it worth the price bump?
* whats the price of ASROCK Z68 and how good a brand is ASROCK?

Yes,the proc, MB(Z68 even better) and gpu what u have listed are good and featurefull but are those features any use to u?I mean if u jus gonna watch Movies in HD and play games now n then, the 6850 itself is more
than enough for u.do let us
know ur current pc config to suggest u better.
Jus simply dont buy things that are not of any use to u,instead u can keep that money and buy when u really need it.

Which
are those applications?let us know to suggest u better.
As u r intending to buy next month, there are a lot of new releases waiting.
so it would be premature to comment on what to buy after 30 days.

1)for 3DS Max 5770 should just be enough,6850 is more powerfull and vfm.
2)yes,corsair vx550 is good enough.
3)u havent told us which cabinet ur using.
4)if u r not planning to oc and gonna do 3DS Max,HD movies and light gaming;a cheaper h67 mobo ll do it.
Asus p8h67 m is enough.
5)Z68 has good bits from both h67 and p67.and after seeing what asus p8z68 has to offer, the price bump is definately worth it.
This is what i think u should get,if u r planning to buy early
i5 2500(no k)
asus p8h67 m
g.skill 4gb kit
Sapphire HD 6850.
Do tell us ur present cabinet

whats vfm ??
also can you please elaborate a bit more on the performance difference between 6850 and 5770..as in what exactly am i getting for the extra 2Gs?

3)u havent told us which cabinet ur using.

Coolermaster Elite 310 Cabinet Model [basic, with just one large fan]
would i need any cooling mechanism if i get 6850?

4)if u r not planning to oc and gonna do 3DS Max,HD movies and light gaming;a cheaper h67 mobo ll do it.
Asus p8h67 m is enough.

actually the problem there is that i'ev fallen in love with asus's EFI BIOS and i guess that they have that only in the h67 m pro models and above..
i think ill settle for Asus P8H67 M EVO, is that fine?

i5 2500(no k)

alright..so the 'k' stands for overclocKing!
is there any other difference between the two?

Now this is a bit tangential to the topic of this thread besides being very silly..but what exactly is overclocking? how can i learn it? and do i run the risk of permanently damaging my hardware?

VFM=value for money. From
the price point of view 5770 costs around 7.5k and 6850 costs around 9.5kto10k.
Both support dX11 and both have 1gb VRAM.but the bus width of 5770 is 128 bit(lesser) and of 6850 is 256 bit(more).
5770 has 800 stream processors compared to 960 of 6850.
6850 is significantly better in performance than 5770.
Benchmarks of both gpu compared here:AnandTech - Bench - GPU11

Asus p8h67 m B3 revision has UEFI BIOS and costs 7.3k
it is the Asus p8h67 LX B3 which doesnt have UEFI BIOS and costs 6.1k
Asus p8h67 m EVO is good to.

CM 310 has provision for additional fans, fit in 2 more fans n u ll be ready,no need change ur cabinet.

As for oc,if u dont know it dont do it.u ll end up screwing ur procy

Another thing is HD 6850 is based on BART architecture compared to older 5000 series architecture and the stream processors of BART is more optimized. So a 960 stream processor BART actually performs better than their previous gen HD 5830, having 1140 stream processors. It also offers better Tessellation performance than the 5000 series.

p8H67 m B3 has usb 2.0.if u want usb3.0 only put 500 rs more n get p8h67 m pro,this should satisfy u!
USB 3.0 and True USB 3.0 are same.
True usb3.0 is what asus called it when they first brought out mobos with USB3.0 support,as far i know!

just one last query..i wanted to confirm that the only difference between i5 2500k and i5 2500 is the ability to overclock, right? theres no difference in their performance otherwise?

..also can you point me in the right direction [like a blog or a website, maybe a thread on this forum] where i can start learning about OCing, ill have a spare rig to try on once i get my new system.

Live long and prosper

..in Vulcan lingo (star trek reff!!)

up-until today i was set on this config..

Component | Make | Price Processor | Intel Core i5 2500k | 11000
Motherboard |Asus P8H67-M EVO | 8900
RAM | G.Skill Ripjaws X F3-12800CL9D-4GBXL | 2600
Graphic Card | Sapphire HD6850 | 9500
| Total |32000

..but then i came across this GA-Z68X-UD3R-B3 on another thread and its got me thinking, its only 1.5k more expensive and i guess its a whole lot more better than H67s
so should i stick to my original choice or what??

also is Corsair XMS3 2X2GB 1600C9 a better choice for RAM?
