1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: I am planning to purchase a simple basic desktop for my home. I had a (P-4 PC/512MB) comp, but it is not at all working properly.I want to upgrade it with i3-2100.Requirement : Applications such as MS office, Adobe reader, mozilla, vlc and games such as counter strike, nfs, doom. One more requirement is of HDMI port, in order to connect to my LCD TV

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: I have the Monitor and UPS wfrom my old PC,so i could utilize them, so I am thinking of a budget @ 12-15K

Ans: Windows 7. I have a DVD for that.

Ans: NO

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans:Monitor and UPS

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: 2-3 days

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans:No, will have to be done by assembler

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans:Patna, Bihar... will purchase them locally

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: My config is i3-2100,2GB,500GB,Motherboard with inbuilt graphics(i am confused reg this.. the brand and model).. Please suggest something for i3 itself,,, Thanks......

AMD A6 3500 @ 4.1k
Gigabyte GA-A55M-S2V @ 3.5k
Corsair 4Gb DDR3 @ 1.1k
WesternDigital 500Gb Blue @ 4k
local Cabinet @ 1.5k

TOTAL: 14.2k

HDMI is not possible on these low price boards. Get these from Flipkart and have them assembled locally.

In case you want Intel Core i3 2100 based rig,
Core i3 2100 @ 6.8k
MSI H61M-P21 @ 3k
Corsair 2Gb DDR3 @ 0.6k
WDC 500Gb @ 4k
local cabinet @ 1.5k

TOTAL: 15.9k

Sam Instead of A6 3500 he go for A6 3650 (Quadcore).

bhaskar11235,If you go with amd A6 3650 you will save almost 2k both i3 2100 and A6 3650 have similar performance but A8 has much better IGP than intel by saving this 2k you can spend this in good PSU like Corsair CX 430 v2 which are silent and efficient. For rest of component you can follow sam configuration.

yes, AMD A6-3500 (tri core) or A6-3650 (quad core) or A8-3850 (quad core) are better choice than Core i3-2100 in this case.

Built-in graphics of AMD are more than 2.5 times faster than Intel Core i3-2100. So, AMD A series APU will run games much faster.

My suggestion will be this -

AMD A6-3650 quad core with built-in Radeon HD 6530D graphics @ 6344 [Buy from Flipkart]
ASUS F1A75-M motherboard @ 6500 (has HDMI port) [Buy from Flipkart]
4GB 1600 Mhz DDR3 RAM @ 1100 [Buy from Flipkart]
500GB Hard Disk @ 4800
Corsair CX430v2 power supply @ 2400 [Buy from Flipkart]
Local cabinet @ 800.

Total = ~19,000. But this is worth spending extra.

Just pointing out, for "basic home computers", both i3-2100 and A6-3650 are overkill. You can go for A6-3500 (tri core with HD 6530D graphics) @ Rs. 4600 if you want. Both A6-3500 and 3650 have same graphics.

AMD APU's will run faster in graphics and will run NFS,etc smoothly (much better than the core i3)
so an A6 config is great for home use.
