Hi All,

My System configuration is..

Processor : Intel Dual Core 3.2 (4MB L2)
Board : Intel D965RY
RAm : 1 GB (667)
HDD : 160 GB (Seagate SATA)

When i connect another 160 gb HDD and copy movies from that to my HDD, the system go very slow( i.e. 700 mb data copy in 4 minutes). What is wrong in my system.

its not fine ...its slow ......... i can copy a whole 4.7 dvd from my LITEON drive in 4-5 mins ......... i have AMD 3600+ with 1 gig of ram. check if u have DMA option selected in hard drive properties.....

i think ur system is ok.. the speed also depends upon what kind of data u r copying & CD condition.. yes DVD can be copied in less time if u compare amount of GB wth CD

HDD to HDD data transfer do take up lot of resources. It must not be a judging parameter for systems performance. There are other things which shown up systems performance:
1. OS Boot up time
2. Time taken to shut down
3. Multimedia play
4. Games

Perform a performance test using PassMark Performance rating trial version and post the score here.

Beware of the innocent
no hdd to hdd should be definitely faster than dvd to hdd. You are of course, connecting the other hard drive as sata and not as an external hard drive through usb, right?

i hv a comp with intel c2d @1.86 GHz, mobo intel D946GZIS, 2 GB ram.
i am not very much satisfied with its performance. i mean the graphics displayed in games is not as as it shud be and games (like cs) do not run well in openGL mode.
in fact my frnds pc with p4 and 512 mb ram is better performer than mine.

Hi All,
Thanks for reply. I think my RAM is not original. Is this a reason of slow performance of my PC. Should i add an extra 1GB ram. Help me.

How much MB does XP read your RAM.Find in my computer properties. There is nothing called original or Duplicate RAM.

If the other hard disk is IDE HDD, then check from BIOS wether it is running in PIO mode or DMA mode....

DMA mode is faster... PIO mode may degrade speeds by 75%...
