The following configuration is for my friend. He is an Interior Designer.

1. What is the purpose of the computer?
A: More of designing applications, like Auto CAD, 3DS Max etc. Casual gaming.
2. Are you open to alternate ideas/products giving similar better performance but offering more VFM/ sellers? If not- why?
A: Yes
3. What is your MAX budget?
A: around 25K
4. Planning to overclock?
A: No
5. Which OS are you planning to use?
A: Windows 7
6. How much hard drive space is needed?
A: 1TB
7. What resolution will the screen run at & whats the size of the screen you want?
A: He has a 22inch AOC LCD monitor with 1920X1080 resolution.
8. How would you rate your hardware knowledge from the count of 1-10?
A: 7
9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
A: Yes
10. When are you planning to buy the system?
A: Within a week.
11. Are you one of the types looking out for "future proof" configurations?
A: Yes
12. Are there going to be any components that you don't want to include in this new rig? If yes, do mention.
A: Monitor, UPS, Keyboard & Mouse, Speakers.
13. Which city do you live in and are you open to buying from shops from other city/states?
A: Kasaragod, Kerala. (Possible to purchase from Bangaluru)
14. Mention any other points if deemed necessary
A: Please suggest a GPU thats around 5K

He prefers Intel system. But please suggest both Intel and AMD systems.

can ATI Firepro V3700 play games like COD5,NFS Undercover...etc smoothly? because he likes to play some of those games.

for intel you will need to change the processor to i3 530 @ 4.3k and mobo to MSI H55M E33 @ 5.2k or MSI H55M P33 @ 4.6k(if you dont need hdmi)

but i strongly recommend athlon II x4. its performance will be better.

about playing games you will need a gaming gfx card like Sapphire Radeon HD5670 512mb @ 5k. the firepro is for 3d rendering and all.

for around 5k you can have Zotac GT240 if you want and you dont care for dx11.
and yes cool buddy is right nvidia gpus will give you cuda support for rendering and all.

See if he can afford GTS 450, otherwise wait for GT 440, looking good. I suppose it will be better than HD5670. If GT 440 launches for around 6k, it will be a great buy. Currently only OEM is in the market. Buying GT240 doesn't make much sense any more. Better wait a couple of months.

if he will oc then 955 @ 8k

its nothing like gts240 doesn't make sense. most games are dx9 and dx10.
yup but it will be better if he can wait also for gt440.

He wants to buy the sys asap(by this weekend). So, he cant wait for Nvidia GT440. Sapphire Radeon HD5670 is better than Zotac GT240 right?

Phenom 2 945 for 7.2k is not best VLM , as for 3d rendering u can choose GT240 ! Cuda & physx
