partition problem on hp laptop

i just got a hp laptop


they gave me vista on it


the problem is it got only 1 single drive of 120 gb :(


now i askd hp ppl to give me vista dvd . so i could reinstallit in future if needed..

also ineed it after partiotioning..

but they said they wont give dvd but i have to make a recovery disc..



here's where the problem starts

if i restore from recovery disc it will make a one single partition

i tried partition magic but nothing happened..




any idea guys ?

In the zone
if you instist ,and ready to pay just few more Rs they might give OS on seperated dvd. (one of my friend was about to return his Laptop of other brand then your, that company gave him seperate OS cd while charging just few Rs more).

Well you can repart your harddisk, thanks to the Inbuilt partionmanager of vista(A less known feature).

>>Go to CONTROL PANEL
>>And Then In ADMINSTRATIVE TOOLS
>>Select COMPUTER MANEGMENT
>>In COMPUTER MANAGEMENT go to STORAGE>DISC MANAGEMENT
Here you can see the map of your harddisk.
Right Click C: drive and select SHRINK VOLUME.

Select the amount you want for new volume and OK.
Unalloter space will be created.Select the unalloted space,right click it and make new volume.
