I want to reinstall XP. Can I reinstall it without formatting the drive? Will the existing programs work with the new installation?

choose the repair option when you start d install process, its as good as d reinstall if u r not goin 2 format ur disk

AFAIK if u choose to do a re-install over the old 1, it will cre8 new regitry entries, makin d programs unusable

No pain....No gain
You can do a repair installation, all your existing programs will work. But why do you want to reinstall? If you are upgrading from 32-bit to 64-bit then fresh installation is necessary.

You can reinstall XP without formating..but again U need to install all the driver and softwares.

But by this method, your files in my documents will be as same.
