over heating

Right off the assembly line
intel p4 2.4 ghz processor
intel 845 gvsr original motherboard
256mb ddr-1 ram
80gb hdd
mercury cabinet
i working my pc 2 to 3 hours .
after i restart the error is coming
" The Cpu was previously shutdown due to a thermal event ( Overheating)
Service the unit right away to resolve this"

what can i do?

help me?

oh wow...Xenforo!!!
P4 prescott always gets hot :p. Clean the psu air vents, fans and cpu heatsinks using a good old fashioned unused paint brush OR can of compressed air ONLY. If that doesnt work, time to change the thermal paste on the heatsink.

^^True. I had P4 3Ghz and it was running 40-45 when idle..Prescotts are known to run hot..

I suggest you use good thermal paste like Arctic Silver 5 or Tuniq TX2 :)
