ORACLE 9i installation

I have prepare one word document having step by step procedure with print screens that how 2 install 9i. size is 3 MB .give ur e-mail id i will send u. I think big attachment is not allowed here. One more thing "No Oracle Product will work on Windows ME or Windows XP Home Edition " .OK. so use windows 2000 Server edition

I am havin XP pro.
Then "Not workin" in the sense when i run the prog, it asks for a username , password & a hot string which I've never given durin installation process, so I can't proceed from that window,
when runnimg some other app's frm BIN an error message says "reinstalling the soft ware may fix this".
any way how to Uninstall this?? its not listed in add or remove prog and the destination folder is of only some 30 mb but some 1.5 gb is used up!!!

Come get Some
you cant just uninstall the Oracle
but to do so
remove the directory where oracle is installed
remove all oracle concerned registry keys from registry
bingo oracle is removed from your pc
now install the oracle from the very first
host string is the SID which you have to provide during installation
there are host of default logins which you can see at the last of installation in password Management.
after installation
to create a user follow belows
Connect as System (username) Manager (Password) hoststring (hoststring)
then issue this command
1. Create User <Uname> Identified by <Password> (without <>)
then
2. Grant Connect, Resource, dba to <username>
but to do so

The username and password for that are Scott and tiger respectively.Try this.

@whizkrive use the username scott, pwd tiger with a blank hoststring.
For uninstalling run the oracle installer again and choose the products to be uninstalled

I've installed the database and when I try to get in as "system" n "manager" I got the foll error message.

wats my prob? I never got a screen for defining my own password n username as i found on the guide provided by vikasg03.
pls help, wold win XP support any other ver of ORACLE other than 9i (any lite ver's, which can make SQL tables? )

its means that your pfile is not configure fully to automate initialize the listner services and startup files. just open sql as sysdba and type statup pfile ='location of init.ora';
for connect as sysdba
type in sql user name----------> as sysdba or /as sysdba (no need of password here)
password----------------------> oracle
now type which i tell u earlier --> statup pfile ='location of init.ora';
and ur problem will be solved. But this has to be done every time u start sql once in a system.
As for as defining own password window is concern it depends on version 2 version also the options selected by u. u can change password later .
