sorry u misunderstood which i can tell u. "location of init.ora files " means u have to search in ur oracle 9i installation folder that where this file is exist. and give the path inside that. For example in my system the location of that file is E:\Oracle\ADMIN\xps\pfile. it means i write in sql prompt
SQL> CONNECT sys/password AS SYSDBA
CONNECTED
SQL> STARTUP PFILE='E:\Oracle\ADMIN\xps\pfile\INIT.ORA';
ORACLE instance started.
Total System Global Area 96547356 bytes
Fixed Size 685234 bytes
Variable Size 46137344 bytes
Database Buffers 16777216 bytes
Redo Buffers 532480 bytes
Database mounted.
Database opened.
I think now u got it.
