ORACLE 9i installation

sorry u misunderstood which i can tell u. "location of init.ora files " means u have to search in ur oracle 9i installation folder that where this file is exist. and give the path inside that. For example in my system the location of that file is E:\Oracle\ADMIN\xps\pfile. it means i write in sql prompt
SQL> CONNECT sys/password AS SYSDBA
CONNECTED
SQL> STARTUP PFILE='E:\Oracle\ADMIN\xps\pfile\INIT.ORA';
ORACLE instance started.
Total System Global Area 96547356 bytes
Fixed Size 685234 bytes
Variable Size 46137344 bytes
Database Buffers 16777216 bytes
Redo Buffers 532480 bytes
Database mounted.
Database opened.

I think now u got it.

I've searched my installation folder, but there is no file named "init.ora" and a folder named XPS inside "admin". The admin location is C:\oracle\ora90

but inside admin there is a folder named "sample" (only this folder inside admin) and inside it a "pfile" folder containing "initsmpl.ora"( 8 kb)

no "init.ora" is found.

wats the prob? Is it any installation error or things like that??
Is there any lite ver's other than 9i; just to work on with sql table?

Use MYSql for that

as far as oracle is concerned i recommend you

first dissable all running services of oracle

Second remove all Oracle related registeries from registry (using regedit, prefer regcleaner as its quite user friendly and you dont have to search fro oracle entries in reg. using it)

Third remove the directory of the Oracle
Then install the fresh copy of oracle 9i
