ONGC largest deployer of Windows Vista in Asia

Mumbai: India's leading crude and gas producer ONGC has emerged the largest Windows Vista customer for Microsoft Corporation in Asia, with a deployment of over 18,000 units in Asia.

ONGC chose to implement Windows Vista due to its advanced security features, expected productivity benefits, search functionality and lower total cost of ownership (TCO). Specific features that ONGC expects to leverage include the security attributes built into Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) like Phishing Filters and Protected Mode; the User Account Control (UAC) functionality; optimized deployment capabilities across thousands of machines and the Green IT features including power management and energy saving, Microsoft said in a release here.

To ensure a smooth transition and maximum returns, ONGC has also conducted company-wide trainings for employees. During these trainings, employee feedback on the benefits of Windows Vista has been extremely positive, with over 91 per cent rating their initial experience of Windows Vista as very good or excellent.

Commenting on the implementation, ONGC Ltd's Executive Director (Information Services) M Thyagaraj said, ''As India’s largest Oil & Gas organisation with a pan-India presence, we depend extensively on technology to ensure smooth running of our core business. From our perspective, the desktop operating system is mission critical, and it was imperative for ONGC to deploy the best offering, that would meet requirements namely security, ease of use, mobile computing and significant increase in employee productivity".

' Over 180 million licenses of Windows Vista have been sold worldwide, with India adoption alone crossing over two million copies. Key Windows Vista customers in India include DeBeers, Hotel Saravana Bhavan, Infosys, KRaheja Corp, Larsen & Toubro, Macawber Beekay, Satyam, Symphony Services and TCS. Worldwide, companies including Continental Airlines, EDS, University of California, Berkeley; Virgin Megastore and Washington Department of Licensing are benefitting significantly from implementing Windows Vista.

No wonder you are loosing money in share market. Investment in share market requires business knowledge. Looking at your inference why ONGC share value is going down(!!); I'm sure you have none.

yesterday i went to RTO office which was using vista+some web cam app +networking to give driving licenses

about 2 hours delay in giving ma license coz some vista crashes........

the IT admin was sweating to repair it...i was seeing him from ma Que

lol what a shame.......it eveen sux though its called user freindly

^^ ok fine .. be happy .. passing silly comments for everyone to lol is done by all n sundry. in which context way u find it silly n lol is upto you ;)

a person wont invest in stocks if he doesnt knw wats its abt. a person who doesnt knw anything abt it wud v sold in the bearish market. its built on strong fundamentals n hence i didnt sell it. :) ... ok i think its enough

Who cares? I am using Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic (with SP1)and I am loving it!
I don't mean that Vista has no drawbacks, but I am still happier than XP!

I am using vista for last one year..it never let me down.Not a single virus attack..not a single crash !!! I love vista...and I am proud of using it !
