wow, how u guys get to be so lucky, i used Vista (*Home Premium Bundled with my Lappy*) from July 2007 to Sept 2007(So much resource problem, lots of crashes *Oh btw i saw BSOD for 5 times in 3 months*, Slow response, Software compatablity and i can go on) then actually i never opened it again, I installed Ubuntu and sticking on it from Oct 1 2007, But still (*Don't wanna start Linux/Windows thing here*) I am ok with windows XP on my office lappy, but Vista Hell No.

I really do not understand why these threads end up as Windows vs Linux. It's all about choice. If they choose Vista it's their choice ! Simple ! If people want to complain about Vista it's fine, but I do not see the point of bringing in Apple or Linux or Solaris or anyone else.

Hi,I am agree with NucleusKore. Use what you want, but mu point is why everybody wants to become famous simply by defaming Microsoft and I am also not against anything, but again they should talk like this that Vista is this.. Vista is that... Only prob is that we want to make full use of Vista power on a very mediocre system. again that doesn't mean that I am having this CPu and this RAM and That Graphic Card and so on. I am sharing this bcoz I had came across many people who just do stupid thing with Os and then say"Dekha Maine isko crash kar diya).And who say that Linus is not a bloatware, just consider taht amount of memory is required by Linux in graphic mode.Apple is safe becoz u cannot run any application which is not compatible by Os. I am saying this becoz I had worked with APPLE on their Technical support.

Both the type you mentioned, and people who genuinely found vista hard and irritating to use exist. But yes, that does not mean vista sucks in an absolute sense. People still like it. Why else does it have such a high market share ? Only the dumb will stick with a truely horrible OS when an alternative exists. high market share indicates that people either like vista or have a need for it. nice points in its favour.
Mediocre system ? A PC is bought to run apps, not OSes. The problem is that vista by nature is heavy. I remember it lagging on a Core2Duo E4600 with 1GB DDR2 667MHz Samsung RAM and MSI G31 motherboard. That is by no means a weak system.
Thats comon with all OSes. You can't make a TRUE n00b proof OS. Its damn hard and nobody's achieved it yet and if they do, they deserve nobel prize in computing and also in neurology.
Really ? I use linux comfortably on 256mb RAM with GUI and a beautiful interface. Funnily enough, it uses the same % of memory that vista uses on that E4600 machine with 1GB RAM, but it takes a fraction of time (30 sec compared to 150 sec) to startup compared to vista on the E4600 machine. Its also reallyeasy to use.
But compared to windows xp, vista is much better due to easier interface, but options like changing themes are too hidden to be of good enough use. At the end of the day, for a person who HAS to use windows, I feel vista is definitely a much much better option than XP, but comparing to linux is certainly not the right thing to do for such work.
This is the most riddiculous thing I have heard. What do you MEAN by your statement ?

Sir, plz do it urself, just have two pcs, put a product of less or mediocre quality (eg Quantum) with equal config in one pc and put a product of proven brand(eg ASUS) in another and do it with every component, whether its MOBO, Gr Card, RAM, SMPS Unit, Case, Cooling Unit.Keep config same of CPu, CHipset, Memory type and amount, gr card chipset, and just see the difference they will show you. The PC with a higher quality component, will outperform the one with another.I had tried this many times and it works, so it doesnt mean that I am having this config.See the brand of the components you are using. If you open an Apple, and see the component, you will got to know what I mean to say and why Apple works so flawlessly. As far your query abt bloatware, sir, just tell me what versin of Vista r u using, Had Linux has all the features which Vista Ultimate have. I am using Linux from Red hat Versin 5.0, and currently I am using SUSE 11.0, and having another machine which has Vista Ultimate on it. On camparing side by side, I am telling you that Vista is far better then Linux, just use the right components.Please understand the basic nature of All three. Mac is developed for graphic works, Linux for network and Windows is Evolving as both. Remenber Windows 95, when we do not much applicatins, and people says that it will never compete to Mac becoz it do not have applicatins to suppport it. See where we are today. Mammoth of applicatins are available.Linux story is just reverse, it is very strong in network, but evolving as a desktop.

Its not just about teaching. Several volunteers are willing to do that for free.

And after learning, there is the adjustment time.
Productivity remains less for quite a few months which results in more wastage of money than by buying vista.
