Norton Antivirus 2005 not installing

hey all, i know that nav2005 is old, but hey, its norton...
well, i installed nav2005....i
t installed perfectly, but when i restarted, the config. wizard didn't open, although its process was in the list....
so i thought that there must be some problem, so i unistalled it, but it showed error in the unistallation....
i tried to reiinstall it, but its not installing and showing an error while, i think, writing a reg key about RB_versionControl.....
there is no error in the cd as it installed perfectly on my friend's machine...

i run winxp with sp2

and how is avast! home???? can i use it as a substitute for norton, i.e, is it that good?

You support Norton too much.
let me tell you my experience with Norton 2005, == at that time my Norton subscription was goin to expire in 1 month. So just as a backup, i installed AVG Free. Guess what happened next, AVG detected 3 Trojans (when using limewire), & two viruses which were in the PC for a long time i think.(found during full sys scan). & NORTON Detected NOTHING. that was too much, so i kicked it out of my PC.

dump norton. switch to avast or avg.

i hv migrated to avast now.....man, it tops norton, in speed, resources(i.e, uses low resources) and looks.....thnx

Agree,Norton is very system heavy and i faced many problems on it.
