New laptop: Please help me choose

I am buying a laptop within this week. Budget is 30K.
I have short listed these two. Please help me decide

Sony Vaio for 27700

I would prefer one with a discrete graphics card

hd 3000 equivalent 520mx will be more power consuming is what i think..

520M is nearly same as HD3000. Its has better drivers but with more power consumption (ie lesser battery life) and Rs 3-4k extra.

Just concerned about reliability of Asus. My friends keep telling me to go for Vaio because it has a better brand value.

I will be using this laptop for at least 4 years. Mostly movies, office work and internet.

Is the Asus laptop good for that?

Vaio is for sure more valuable brand than Asus. But Asus is reliable. If you're being brand specific, as per your requirements, that Vaio lappi is enough but better add 1 or 2GB RAM after you purchase.

@sujay,you people have opened my eys.From now on I will only buy HP laptops,bye,bye Mac!!(atleast will be getting a free oven with every lappy @half the cost of Macs/TPs and most importantly an excuse to buy a laptop almost every year)

If I may interject

I have decided not to go with Vaio cause now three people have warned me not to buy it.

I found a toshiba with i5 proccy on flipcart. What do u guys think about this one

2nd option is to go with the Asus one. Dont like the colour though.

Nevermind,when you are done with studies I am sure you will have even better gadgets.
@o.p Toshiba does make reliable laptops,two of my friends are using toshiba laptops for over 3 years now without a single issue.
