im getting a New 250GB SATA 2 HDD tomorow,
guys pls tell me which one 2 get
segate, samsung, wd or hetachi????
and will my mobo MSI- K8MM-ILSR(AMD 64)
WILL SUPPORT SATA 2 HDD????
and
what should b the price????

I would say go for WD...It has very good performance and is way cooler than other hard disks...
Go for SATA2...Not much price difference but there is little performance difference..
I am currently using 250 GB Western Digital Sata 2 Hard disk only
Also WD offers 5 years home pickup warranty so no hassle to go to service center also..

whatever u do just don't get samsung/seagate coz they've got highest risk of crashing.i myself have one lying here crashed.better get hitachi or western digital.i've got 3 sata wd's and believe me they r great.and wd250 sata 2 is for 2950.thats the latest price i've enquired today only.

If your mobo has sata ports than sata 2 will also work on it as sata 2 is backward compatible but it will only work at the speeds of sata1.

BUT UNFORTUNATELY IT HAS ONLY 8MB BUFFER

^^You should have that much research before buying one...
Nothing can be done now...
But that doesnt mean that 8MB buffer is bad....its only marginally underperforming than 16MB buffer in most hard drives..
