Nero 8 cannot recognize a 870 MB CD thus prevents over burning. It always recognizes a 870 MB CD as a 702 MB CD & ejects.
Over burning option is already activated in my Widows XP Proff SP II.
This was not a problem with Nero 7s.
Please help.
Thanks in advance.

Nero doesn't supports dual-layered CDs. I repeat it doesn't support dual-layered Cds. Becoz dual-layered CDs are still under testing, at all they are stopped.

I didn't know that, so how do u burn a dual layer CD/DVD, my be 1 side at a time???

I use nero to burn CDs & DVDs, DVD-DL, but don't use dual layered CDs. As well as they are unavailable in market.

By the way we must have dual layer-compliant recorder to burn DL disc. The two layers represent one contiguous address stream for recording as a Video Disc, a DVD-ROM, or even a packet recorded disc. When recording on dual layer media, the drive first records on the first recordable layer L0 from the inside hub area outward, just like a typical DVD recordable disc. When the end of information recorded in L0 is reached, Middle Zone 0 is added. Next, the drive focuses on the second recordable layer L1 to create Middle Zone 1 that over-wraps Middle Zone 0. The disc is then recorded from the outside rim inwards. Multi-session discs can be recorded with dual layer recordable media, so it’s possible to add data in “sessions” on a disc.

I have a dual layer sony DVD writer & I bought 2 dual layer DVDs, nero was bundled with it so I assume that nero should support burning them. I will try & see how it burns.

The topic wasn't DL-DVD instead it was DL-CD. As I hv already said DL-CD isn't supported by Nero but its supports DL-DVD. I repeat Nero supports DL-DVDs. Nero 6, Nero 7 & Nero 8 supports DL-DVD, just copy the data and start burning.

By the way you may try DVD Shrink as well.;)

To burn a 870 MB CD was not a problem with Nero 7.
Nero 8 prevents over burning though the option is already activated.
Is there any software to burn a 870 MB CD?!!!

870MB CD is not a "Dual Layer CD"
its just a high density CD and almost all burners supports them while some older CD drives refuses to read.
But the problem here seems the drive firmware being older for nero8. try flashing the latest firmware for ur writer.

And why dont u roll back to nero7? Its much lighter on resources and does the job u want. And its also sopported by Vista
