Right off the assembly line
Hiya

Its my first post .Been reading the forums for a while and been impressed by how u guys help each other out.I have a problem and i hope u guys can help me.

Here's my system specs

Procy Intel P4 2.8Ghz
Mobo: Intel 915 GAG
RAM DDR1 2 Ghz
PSU Corsair VX450
Caby :CM690

It was working fine till last week, when it just switched off by itself. And when i tried to restart,it wont. The monitor (Samy 740n) power switch blinks and caby power button too is on.Though the blue fan isn't on.When i opened the caby, can see the light on the mobo,so i guess there's power on the mobo, but the fan of the PSU isn't spinning.I thought it could be the prob with the PSU,though its just 3 months old.Igot the the psu replaced with a brand new one yest.Tried to switch on again but same result, the fan won't spin, the power button on caby is on and there's that light on the mobo, but nothing else.I checked the ram modules, but they work fine in another system. What could be the problem?.Can u guys bail me out?.

Thanks in Advance :)

Well if it is indeed a VX450 then chances of having a problem with it are very very slim. Those PSU's rock.
Try reconnecting RAM into the slots and clean the CPU fan.If possible, remove the fan, clean it and then put it back.
These issues are mostly due to loose cable or harware connections. So check those out..
And yes, don't break off any part.If you're not sure what to do and how to do,take help of someone who knows.

Well.......I'd say just unplug all the cables and re-plug them. (If you dnt know how to assemble a pc take help of someone or just keep your eyes open and remember each position and cables while unplugging)

Hey why two threads for same reason??

Hey welcome to TDF.

PSU fan not working? than how can the motherboard & cabby get power? most probably the PSU have developed some problem. also using PSU with a nonworking fan will damage your PSU due to overheating. get it checked through a technician & if needed send it for RMA. its most probably PSU problem. not ram, loose cable or so.

thank u guys, really appreciate it :).I had the PSU replaced with a brand new one.But still the problem persists.

Btw is the fan on the PSU suppose to spin when u connect the cable directly to the socket,I mean no connectors plugged to the mobo and just the psu plugged on?.

Here's a new development ,I unplugged the 4 pin EPS CPU connector and the system switches on fine. The fan on the PSU spins,as does the one on the procy.
The cabinet fans too work fine now.And the moment i plug the 4 pin CPU connector, its back to the same prob again.

Does it mean that the (4+4) EPS connectors, but of no use.I guess there's something wrong with the mobo.Is it safe to use the PC without the 4 pin connector?
