Spica aka andriod market are catching up. Still there are many things missing from android which Symbian has like Python Support.wonder how long it would take to catchup
I would kick Symbian for Android or iPhone anyday. But sticking because of the value it gives me. using 5800 and its got every feature a modern smart-phone should have mail & calendar with sync, full html browser(Social networking),Good connectivity(3g,wifi), storage(>=8Gigs),lots of apps, good music player, etc just at a cheaper price. whereas Android or iPhone are costly with comparable features would cost much more.
What about heavy texting users :: If your key requirement is heavy texting then android had a terrible onscreen keyboard the worst I have seen in a touch phone(android 2.1 is the same in terms of keypad performance).
Spica drawback is that it doesn't support multi touch input and its total ram is just 160MB causing lag sometimes same as 5800 old firmware does..not with v50
Regarding cost : Senhiser headset that comes with Nokia 5800XM...
Only 2 cons for this phone:
- Software not as good as Android
- Processing power
But if you look at the advantages:
- Video calling when 3 g launches
- My familiarity with Nokia OS making it breeze to use
- Great camera for my budget with Carl Zies Lens @somewhere you said 5800xm camera is poor..I was asking to compare it with Spica..and do post pics of yours and I will post mine ?? If you really want to compare..If you're looking for a camera phone in this budget..there are many other available options.
- Perhaps the best resistive touch screen I have used
-8 gb onboard memory
-full lifetime Nokia voice navigation with maps
Check out that samsung India updated details of phone on web site in may 2010..too lazy people..I hate samsung customer care...there service centers..Do compare there service center with Nokia..
More to come..If time permits me
I don't agree because Honestly, I never felt any lack of apps. but then maybe its just me.ovi store is nothing compared to Android market.
Yes, True.Integration is good with native apps that is gtalk in andriod but that level can be achieved with third party apps like fring, nimbuzz.having the functionality integrated into the Andriod OS/UI is always much better than dedicated apps

Don't comment people doesn't use video calling in India..you yourself commented that you buy and use phone for almost 2 years somewhere...september 3g will begin hopefully.. You wont change your phone every 6 months...lolAndroid doesn't do video calling (yet). all these phones doesn't come with front facing camera
