My main purpose- to play games fast, I can't tolerate when it lags. And of course, to enjoy the finest details of virtual reality. It ha been a decade since i have played games which have high requirements/have the finest graphics. The last ones I played are Far cry, Doom 3 so I don't know some things about the current games. One thing I know for sure is that I need to play them in the top-notch settings!

1. Which Power Supply do you have? (Be EXACT while naming the company and model)
Ans:
Corsair Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 SMPS

2. What is your budget?
Ans:
40K  and yet a bit stretchable ;) Yes, waited a long time for this! But hopefully, I think it should be more than sufficient to accommodate it.

3. Which resolution will you game at?
Ans: Currently I have 1600X900 which is not HD, but I may buy a new monitor if it makes that much of difference

4. What are your current computer specifications?
Ans:
CPU Intel i5 3570k
MB Maximus V Gene
RAM Gskill 8gb ddr3 1600mhz ram
Cabinet Corsair 400r cabinet
Cooler Cooler master 212 hyper evo
HDD 1 TB

get a triple monitor setup of dell s2240l(or any good FHD) or get atleast one FHD monitor like dell s2240l and opt for r9 290 tri-x edition from sapphire for 38k. r9 290 for 900p is pure overkill though.

what about R9 290 and FHD display. 280X, now a days, struggle a bit to provide 40+ fps in some games at highest possible settings and I* guess OP wants smooth Gameplay on those extreme settings. R9 290 offers perfect balance between price and performance, he will be safe for little longer.

yes if he plans on buying fhd monitor then r9 290 is better for option and he should buy one given how cheap fhd displays are now

makes sense to buy a dell s2240l monitor & r9 290 tri-x edition it is, then.

Which 290 tri-x edition should i opt for?? I'm still confused about the 'exact' model. Is it Sapphire Radeon R9 290 tri-x OC??

Would appreciate if someone would give me a link, thanks.
I stay in Mumbai, so should I order from the net or get it from Lamington road??

> TriX is the brand name of one of Sapphire's GPU cooler.

> The Flipkart link you have mentioned is correct. Don;t buy it form FK though as it's super expensive over there. The same card is available for 26.8k at mdcomouters.in.

> I'd recommend a dual monitor setup if you have the budget.

Thanks a lot Harshil.
I don't think it's available for 26.8k though. Checked it here-
*mdcomputers.in/products/graphics-card/sapphire-graphics-card-tri-x-r9-290-4gb-gddr5-oc-uefi.html?sort=pd.name&order=DESC
its for 36,800 on offer price, original price being 49,900
What does UEFI mean? I mean it's good or bad?

Also, can anyone tell me what's the difference between the above card & this one- SAPPHIRE GRAPHICS CARD R9 290X 4GB DDR5 (R9 290X 4GD5 - 21226-00-40G - 840777063797 - 51,000.00)
I thought since the first card has tri-x, it would be better, but then why is this card a tad expensive than the frist?

> Yeah I meant 36k, it was a typo.

> The card in the first link is R9 290 and the one in second link is R9 290X.

Thanks a lot again, harish.

What is the difference between their performances?

Theres a lot of difference between the offer prices but a mere difference of Rs 1100 between the original price. Strange.

Thanks a lot, pardon the typo.

So 290 is for 36,800 & 290X is for 44,444. DIfference comes to 7644.
Is it worth that much of a price difference??

Not really worth spending Rs 7.5 K for 2/4 fps gain with the 290X.
Dont buy that Dell monitor its outdated honestly and not worth it. Things have moved on and Dell India has not. Get the AOC i2369VM/i2269VM

290 performs almost similar to 290x and 290 makes more sense at its price.

do we have any better monitor here in india at the cost of dell s2240l? AOC costs almost 3.5-4k higher, but may be better.

Since OP has the budget theres no point in getting the outdated Dell.

And for your question there is not one but two superb monitors in and around that price bracket from HP 22FI and from Benq.Whatever you save with that outdated Dell you end up spending on buying a quality DVI or HDMI cable since ut comes with none!
