need a help urgent

after i have installed red hat enterprise edition .the computer reboots and says GRUB LOADING STAGE 2 AND BECOMES do nothing what i should do plz help me.

Please give me the complete procedure and command for installing it.i have trouble in installing
grub only.

Install RH from first cd where it will ask u to repair grub or modify it, select it, after that install will be over in less than 10 minutes cause u already have the distro installed

ya did what do u said.But it says that no kernel package installed so boot loder cannot be made change.so what to do over come this problem?

Simply boot from Linux CD and type Linux Rescue.
After following the setup steps, u'll enter into linux console.
Then type command:

chroot /mnt/sysimage

then type:

grub-install /dev/hda

then exit and restart ur comp.

Tryed when i gave grub-install/dev/hda it says no such file or directory exit.Even though i tried all hdas it say same thing.i done the following :


1.I have made boot lform linux 1 cd.


2.Then i have typed linux rescue.


3.It starts scan of language and keyboard.


4.Then it run's and show whether u want network interface i have pressed

yes.


5.Then it mount's under \mnt\sysimage and says if we want to go to root

directory type chroot\mnt\sysimage.And after clicking ok.shaw prompt

opens and i have the first command as chroot\mnt\sysimage.

6.It accepts the command and moves to next and there i have grub-install/dev/hda command.And after giving this command it says no
such file or directory exit's.Even though i have tried all hdas it prompts the same problem.


These only vignesh i have did it.Is made any fault?If so how to correct it

and give me the procedure plz.

U told that u gave the command grub-install/dev/hda
It doesnt contain spaces!
Did u give space btw grub-install and /dev/hda ?
It should be grub-install /dev/hda

Nope, It gives option to upgrade bootloader
First when u boot from CD1, it loads u to command where u press ENTER to install fresh linux or type linux to upgrade. Do latter one and it will definitely load u to bootloader screen!

Maybe your hardisk is not the primary master on your system .Like in mine its hdc not hda.Check that.
