mouse cursor flickering

Whenever i plug in a pen drive into my pc, the cursor(arrow-icon) starts flickering as if something is going on even though the pen drive is not in use. Is this a problem or a caused by virus? And my explorer keeps restarting like 3 times a day. why is it happening? Sometimes pen drive would not come out by safely removing option because the system says it is still being used by some program but i can't find any application using the pd. Could it be virus?

Try repairing the OS and checking the HDD for errors.

I am using Microsoft essential and yes it is updated. How do i repair my os? by using os boot disk? andy hdd error check should be done by right clicking the drive and properties?
