Actually it is the exect opposite. Did you tried playing a DVD in Windows Media player, even with powerDVD installed? or were u using Windows XP which u r comparing to tiger here.
Are you trying to tell me that Windows Media Player does not play DVDs? Because I am sure as Hell it does. I've never used any third party software on Windows (or Mac) to play DVDs and I used Windows for five years. WMP plays them just fine (finer, at present, than even DVD player, if I may say so).

Windows Media Player on Windows XP will not play DVDs without a 3rd party codec due to old license restrictions. If you have powerDVD installed it will use the PowerDVD decoders to play the DVD cos powerdvd decoders are Directshow based.

On Windows Vista, no such problem. The DVD decoder is integrated.

Plz continue such discussion in Fight club section in the official thread.

(BTW, I, along with goobimama and mail2and, wrote that book. So if you have any queries, feel free to ask me. You may also contact me on AIM or via PM.) :)
Thank you!

The appreciation makes it worth the effort (though the pay doesn't hurt either!).
Congratulations to u and the others who hav done it.... it clearly shows the hard work gone in it. sounds great to me and even windows faithful users should do something like this... instead of just wastin time in barkin and fightin for it, they should learn from this....... Atleast this fast track will make the ppl realise wat mac has for them.

and arya plz tell me how much they paid individually for preparin fast track, plz dont mind... u can PM me... ;)

<expectin u to reply abt the pay>

Digit already published a Fast track to Windows Vista but forgot to mention to many things & how Vista can bring world peace, make cheeze buger, bake cookies...cure cancer etc :D

It would be better if digit can publish some articles in Magzine which many users have posted here, such as my iTunes vs WMP or Explorer vs Finder or iMav's Windows Live services review or goobi's Photoshop tutorials or arya...............wait, what has arya done?

Arya:

1) Fast track = Copy pasted articles from net

2) Mac uses EFI

3) PC use iSigit

4) PC cannot boot from USB drives.

They haven't paid us yet. Mr. Deepak told me that we will be paid within forty five days from the date of publication.

We don't know how much we are going to be paid. (It better be a respectable amount. I wrote three chapters but messed up the one on Mac OS X. Then I rewrote that entire chapter. Then they gave me one more chapter, 'The Switcher's Guide' and I was given two days to complete it in, which I did. We also had to give all the screenshots ourselves - which is why you can see my nickname on page 93 :D - and I wrote 120 pages overall.) It was a daunting task, but one which I enjoyed immensely and would gladly be willing to do again.

For the history chapter, I took help from apple-history.com, iCon Steve Jobs, The Apple Way and of course, Google. The words are mine, the knowledge is not. The rest of the chapters are completely from my tiny little brain, which is why they are the ones that have a lot of stuff missing. For 'The Switcher's Guide' I did lift some portions directly from the Help Viewer on Mac OS X because there was no way to rephrase them (like the table listing the Windows terminology and the Mac equivalents).

Thank you for the generous praise, by the way! In the words of J.K. Rowling, "That makes me sound a lot cooler than I was." :D

I am sure that you have written better than Rowling coz OOTP gave me headache while reading, that was so badly written that i wish i could stab harry in chest before Voldemort does. :)

Yeah, OoTP wasn't one of my favourite books either. That quote, as I am sure you know, is from Deathly Hallows though.
