Right off the assembly line
hi
i have seagate 40gb hdd and 3 partitions
my d drive is of 25 gb is of mp3s and due to my friends mistake it got converted into PqrP partition in Partition Magic.

Windows was unable to detect the partition and none of the software detected it . after searching net i got the software PTtableedit and i edited
the my partion to its previous type that was FAT32.

after restart the partition came back but all data was compiled into one folder named FOUND 0002.

now inside this folder all my 8000 songs were converted into .CHK extesion.

now these songs play in winamp but the real problem is that all 8000 songs are now like this :

FILE001002.CHK
FILE001003.CHK
and soo on till 8000

now plz is there any software to get the names back ?
i am manually listening to these songs and naming it!!!
this will tak months if i do this way!!
this is irritating also!!

please help me to get the songs in the original format

that would be helpfull to you.

you get a lot of software to rename mp3 files according to their ID3 tags

To change the extensions, go to DOS mode and issue a command like this

ren *.chk *.mp3

Then the softwares will be able to handle them better.
