In one of the recent messages in OS forum, it was mentioned that a live knoppix CD can be installed on the HDD by giving the command ?su knoppix ?install?. Since most (or all? I?m not sure) live CDs are Knoppix based, does it hold true for all Live CDS? That is can they be installed by issuing this command? Also if the command is all right, since in another Linux forum (I have joined so many that can not give details or links), I found the command ?knoppix ?hdd install?.

Knoppix v3.3 and earlier used
$ su -
# knx2hd

and Knoppix v3.4 onwards use
$ su -
# knoppix-installer

for cloning the Live Knoppix onto an existing ext3 partition on the harddisk. Other popular Live CDs like Morphix too can be cloned likewise. With some live CDs like Dyne:Bolic installing onto harddisk is as simple as copying the contents of CDs onto existing ext3 partition and adding its entry onto Grub/Lilo

I don't think Linspire Live will be installed like this as they want you to pay for installing this distro. In any case which feature of Linspire cajoles you into actually installing it? There are far better distros available then Linspire...
