Out of the 2, which one is better, Intel 4500MHD or ATi HD3450? Which one would be able to handle COD4 at the res of 1280x800, providing good frame rates too?

HD3450 anyday.
Intel 4500MHD is not so good for gaming

Ya .y not. U can play games like NFS Most Wanted at high settings.

Any Intel graphics chip is a PoS as far as gaming is concerned.

but one thing on the HD 3450 , if u going to install linux then it ll be big grafix issue there is a driver problem for installing in the linux

Damnit, Linux is the first thing that I'll install into my lappy! haven't newer Kernel fixed this issue?

no i tried every linux ,fedora 8 , 9 ,10 nothing works

But in KDE some time its does good , the video is horrible -->HD 3450 it doesn't support Gnome

the kernel 2.8 is the latest from fedora 8 never fixed , but radeon 48XX series there is a driver , but u have make many steps to do

I'm having Graphics issue even with my Ubuntu 8.10 with kernel version .11 one
My HD4850 is not detected and if I install its insecure drivers, I don't get display, only terminal mode.

i saw in the LINUX forum , try out the the FEDORA in KDE mode

which monitor u r using if it is 17" inch LCD then no problem

No mine is a 26inch HD LCD TV

thats gr8 mine is 22" HD LCD ,

the final showdown display for fedora with HD 4850 is 1280 X 1024

get the Nvidia based grafix on the lappy or intel grafix
