Oh no another one..

The run-up to the release of Amazon’s Kindle Fire was going so well, with 50,000 pre-orders a day and a total of 2.5 mn pre-orders expected before it is made available on November 15. But the shine has come off it somewhat after patent troll Smartphone Technologies LLC slapped Amazon with a lawsuit claiming patent infringement.

Smartphone Technologies LLC has already gone after Apple, Research in Motion and HTC for alleged patent infringement. In this case, it claims that Amazon have infringed five patents related to hand-held computing devices.

Do you mind quoting a paragraph of the content/link you are posting in here?

I do not normally like being rude on forums but there are many smartarses out here who think no end of themselves & try to show their intelligence by insulting others. For your information before trying to so bloody condescending try to find out who you are talking to. It might be beyond you now. Frankly I don’t see the need for what you want as on most occasions the link itself gives out what the topic is about & if you want to know more why don’t you click on that link & read as that is what has to be done anyway. or do you want to be spoon fed like a small kid. Also I don’t see the need for pasting the body (even a part of it) of the link & wasting space on the DF server. Did you think of that? :x If you don't like what I have posted go complain to the admin as I stand by what I say.

PS I don't care if I get banned for this post.

let me know if you don't know how to do that. I will write a tutorial for you.
Dude, just say nicely. You can't expect every poster out there to be the same. And not everyone is a Saint, who will just ignore and move on.

Quoting a little of the news is like a tradition in forums, plus your the thread looks nice and standard. And don;t worry about server space, as long as your post contributes to the forum community, you can write stuff as lengthy as you want.

So guys, please don't spoiled every thread with a fight. :)

Ho my, I'm sorry if you got offended. but let me explain why this is required.

1. The user needs to know if the content in the link is of any interest to him or her, the link title itself may not provide enough information.
2. Many users may not have the access to the link provided. (In my case.. The office firewall).
3. Many users may not have enough bandwidth to open the site (Mobile Users) , its light on pocket to read quoted text in a thread rather than going to that website and realizing that it contains loads of ads.
4. RSS Feeds users (including myself) . 75% of the time I use RSS feeds for the websites I visit , that includes TDF. if the content of the thread is interesting, then I would visit the forum and contribute to the thread. else would just delete the entry from the RSS Reader. If there is no content in the thread.. then I would not be interested in visiting the thread right?
5. At last . I dont trust any of the links provided in open forum. specially when url shorteners are common these days. Check this link

I hope my fellow forum members would agree with me in WRT the above points made.

@charan: Your points are quite legitimate. I totally agree with you. But you could have asked him to do so politely.

I don't think Charan was being rude at the first place (or even now). But sometimes you see, a smiley makes all the difference. :p

Now let's stick to the topic guys. :)

I just read about what patent trolls are, non-participating entites and the business model of Accacia (spelled right?) which seems worth flaming in the begining but slowly starts making sense in the end when you know it empowers patent holders with weak financial inklings.

Well that took close to 40mins but I was so amused by this thread that I only put up that comment up there. Also check my usage of smiley (protective mechanism) :D

BTW I hope Kindle reaches our shores before we get all excited again about another delayed release in SE Asia.

Haha...I so knew it. But telling someone that they are under stress or similar also comes as rude so I just zipped up.

Well I hope peace prevails and even the Kindle receives some love

After all they are selling it for a loss. $10 per kindle :) Source: Engadget (not a link)

@OP add some catchy text like this:

For a company that makes no products, Acacia Research (ACTG) spends a lot of time fighting over patents in court

Page 3 stuff tech wise. :D

Peace

I wonder wtf software patents are? These days you see patents + cases being filed up for ridiculous things.

I can understand your situation in office. The points raised by you in post #5 are logical & legitimate so lets treat this matter as closed. You will see some text in new threads from now on. :)

PS: Most of my threads do have a small excerpt in the beginning. :)
