Is this the best configuration?

I'm new to this community and in the next few days i'm buying a new desktop, so thought of taking opinions of u guys...After a little research, i made this configuration:

CPU: AMD 3 GHz AM3 Phenom II 960T

Mobo: ASUS M5A97 Motherboard

RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4 GB

PSU:Corsair CMPSU-600CXV2UK 600 Watts

Processor Fan: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Cooler

Cabinet: Antec Two Hundred V2 AP Chasis

Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 6670 1 GB GDDR5 Graphics Card


Total budget of these stuff is around 31k..I want a final opinion of you guys, Is this the best configuration in this price range? or is there any alternative available in the same price range..The desktop would be used for Watching HD movies and playing some games.

1. overkill psu
2. what about i3, it will save power and is better in lightly threaded tasks and is almost equal to 960t in heavily threaded tasks. and 212 is not needed for i3, stock cooler will be enough
3. hd6670 is good for low graphics gaming, but is not good for mid to high end gaming

A CX430 will be fine and you can order it from Flipkart for 2200 Rs..
HD 6850 or HD 7770 According to your budget and availability..


I would also reccomend to wait till the Ivy Bridge I3 gets released.. They are gonna come out by the end of this month, but should come to india by 1-2 months..

Please mention the resolution of your Monitor..

Good config. you should go with Corsair CX500 v2 PSU and better GPU.

Not a balanced config.
For a 6670, you will need nothing more than CX430V2.
Fill up the PC Building questionnaire template so that proper configuration could be suggested.

I would say

CPU: Amd phenom II 965 Be (6.5k) [***better overclocking options and performance]

MOTHERBOARD: Asus ASUS M5A88-M (5k)

Graphic card: 560ti (14.5k) [***will make your rig future proof for atleast next 3-4 years]

PSU: Corsair CMPSU-600CXV2UK (3k)

HDD: WD Caviar Blue 500 GB (4k)

will make a great Cpu to handle anything you throw to it!

If still it does not suits you well for the budget then you can downgrade the gfx card and can possible opt for hd 6870 or MSi r6850 pe/oc.

To be very honest, that is a cr@p config, waste of money. Can't even run all the games at ultra. Above all, not future-proof & consumes lot of power.

Just wait for 1-2 months for Ivy Bridge i3s, they should be worth the wait
