You can not get POP pushed to the iPhone. Infact except MobileMe and Microsoft Exchange nothing gets pushed to the iPhone.
No, you can not select multiple images to send to MobileMe.
Pressing Home button does not affect your message, it gets saved as it is.

Can I configure a POP3 account on the iPhone and have emails pushed to the iPhone?
Can I sync Outlook (Office 2007) with the iPhone for mails to get them transferred to the iPhone automatically?
Is the sync 1-way or happens both ways?
Considering the option to forward SMS is not there, is the option to forward emails there?
How can I view Word/Excel/Powerpoint/PDF attachments on the iPhone?
Can I edit Word/Excel/Powerpoint files on the iPhone?
If I get myself a MobileMe account, can I upload images to the gallery on the fly?

1. Push is only enabled for MobileMe and Exchange users. The rest (even IMAP Gmail) have to set it to check for mail ever x minutes.
2. iPhone does not sync emails. Only the settings.
3. Two way sync, depending on what you are talking about. For instance, if you buy a song on the iPhone, it goes back to the machine. Even playcount, etc is synced back.
4. Yes, forwarding emails is very much there.
5. Yes, even Office 2007 ones.
6. Nope. Not sure if there is an AppStore app yet, or even a jailbreak one.
7. Yes. Just choose the gallery (iPhone cannot 'create' new galleries) and upload.

@Ankur, 1 at a time? Can I select multiple images and they will be uploaded automatically?
Yes. One at a time.
