internet problem

i hav a very serious problm..all the applications utorrent,firefox,chrome are not able 2 connect 2 internet..only IE is connectin...error is related 2 proxy settings...i dont knw wat exactly has happend? plz i need help..

Are you accessing net from you college or office? They usually put proxy setup for protection and to block sites and services. You can see your proxy settings under iE options> connections> lan settings. Copy it and use them with your apps if they have proxy settings options.

Yea it could be. Who use proxy at home anyways.-) Run a scan using good Internet protection suite.

do this.
Head to network and sharing in control panel
Goto adapter settings and right click properties to open the settings of ur default network adapter.

Head to networking tab
Select ip v4 connection click on properties.

Select preferred dns...

In preferred dns :8.8.8.8
in alternate dns :8.8.8.4

do you have any av, anti malware/spyware program installed on pc - if no install a good one, update it and do a full system scan.

if its virus/malware then u can't solve the problem until & unless u remove the virus/malware using a good antivirus

Alternate DNS is 8.8.4.4

Besides, It doesn't look like a DNS problem. Looks more like a proxy problem. If its malware, try a HijackThis scan and post the log here.

i scanned using avast..a virus was scanned..n i deleted ..stil its givin same prob...i don understan hw is it possible internet works only on IE..bt nt on any other apllication !!

ok here is wat i did..i downloaded hijackthis ..and i ran a scan..while scanning an error showd up sayin...FOR SOME REASON SYSTEM DENIED ACCESS TO THE HOSTS FILE....!! what it means ?

do complete scan using Spybot Search & Destroy and MalwareBytes AntiMalware.

Run it as admin. Then do a scan and generate log file. Copy the contents of the log file and post it here, preferably using the code tags.
