In a shocking price cut, Intel trimmed the price of the Q6700 Core 2 Quad processor in half, and trimmed the price of other processors by as much as 30 percent. In all, Intel reduced the price of fourteen processors, ranging from the mainstream desktop to its Xeon line for servers. The company also introduced several new models.

On a quest for knowledge!
I switched to AMD with price difference being a major factor, now as I still have a couple of SKT775 Mobo's I may invest in a Quad and see what all the HYPE is about!!

Thats good, would have been better if q6600's price was decreased further to abt 200$.

PS:Is this price reduction to finish the old stocks & make way for the penryn quads which curiously has not been in stock in many markets(q 6600 equivalent etc.)?

acc to that page only price of Q6700 has been cut to 50% ,a better choice, Q6600 would still cost around 9-9.5k

and dont expect a price cut on 45nm's so soon.this is just to clear 65nms and move on with 45nm selling.
