I will be purchasing 250 GB SATA II HDD today.
Ive heard there are quite a few issues installing WINXP on SATA drives.

I will be uisng only this SATA drive has my HDD.

My MOBO is Gigabyte GA-MA69VM-S2 ATI Radeon. 690 V chipset.
Will the XP installation automatically install it on the SATA drive? Will the BIOS or chipset help the installation to automatically install.

can some one please enlighten with what I require and what will be needed to be done to install it.

if you have sp2 slipstreamed xp then you will not face any problem. Drive will be recognised automatically.

but if you hav a vanilla xp then you will hav to install drivers through floppy.

^^ some older sata controllers doesn't suppport hot swap, so that may be your case.

Haven't tried this but sata hot swap can be disabled for nforce motherboards, see this link
