Installing OS in a usb drive (ext HDD or pendrive) and booting from it.

Hi

Can anyone please tell me how to install os in a usb storage device like ext. HDD or a pendrive? OS's include Linux (peannut, readhat, ubuntu, fedora) as well as windows (98 and XP) and how to boot from that ext. usb device.

Please help me.

HELP AND SUPPORT
Install any os like for eg: Damn small linux which is meant for pen drives ...and go to ur bios setup while booting by clicking DEL button and change the default boot as not ur c drive but ur pen drive which ever name it has

I have a original Intel 850MV motherboard .. it doesn't have the option of booting from usb device ..will a bios update help ??

In the zone
i dont think u can boot from a harddisk if u want to boot it from a pc of a different config. then urs(from which u created the bootable)......(for win XP and 98)dunno abt DSL....

yes I also think the same...we must boot the same computer on which we hae install the OS.
