i just bought Gigabyte GA78LMT-S2P which lacks any IDE port  rendering my current IDE DVD writer useless..

is there any chance of running this IDE drive on the new motherboard with SATA ports??

^^There are cheap ide to sata converters available at local hardware stores which are usless and lacks ATAPI support reqd for Optical Drives.

i have seen those cards(using 1 myself) & most probably if they are under 500 they lack ATAPI support(must for cd/dvd drives).hard disks will work fine but not optical drives.as far as i know all such cards available online in India lacks ATAPI support.there is probably one shop in nehru place, delhi from where such card can be found(based on their site product info)but it will be costly & certainly not worth it when you can buy a new SATA dvd drive for 900.

ok, X-( i will get a new burner then

i had used my 3.5" HDD USB case [enclosure] to use that DVD writer in my friend's PC. but that enclosure is already dead.
