Requirement - As all my PC motherboards are IDE only (no SATA) and I am planning to buy a SATA HDD (future proof ? lol ) I need some think like IDE-SATA or USAB-SATA converter.

Which will be better ? considering speed, perfomance etc.

USB 2 SATA, I meant the HDD case, that need additional power adapter too ? Will it need additional fan ?

I do not want to make it external, but if thats the only solution, can go for it too.

Thanks in advance.

[Edit] - First one is PCI 2 SATA ? Or IDE 2 SATA exist ?

IDE 2 SATA does not exist u either have 2 go 4 PCI 2 SATA or USB 2 SATA

usb data tranfer rate 480 Mbps

PCI SATA card data transfer rate 1.5 Gbps

go figure which 1 u want 2 use

ya sumbody is facin a similar problem here also

but if d SATA is d only drive den u can boot w/o issues also if you have a PATA and plan 2 boot from there u will also not face any problems

d problem seems to be arising when you have d PATA connected and wan2 boot from d SATA

but sine you were planning 2 put d SATA in external casin, it would mean dat you were plannin 2 boot from d PATA itself, present inside. So der shud not b any problem

Small correction

IDE to SATA and SATA to IDE exist. It is like a small card + data cable for SATA + power cable for card (not for SATA device)

Cost - Rs.400

Just bought one and I will post details later. So far it is working fine - and yes I know I will not get SATA perfomance as it will go to IDE port.
