Hello,

please consider below points and advise me to build a decent rig.
1. I need a machine for basic use ( movies, music, browsing, photo-editing.)
2. I plan to use my TV to use as display for HD movies (So a HDMI out onboard is a must)
3. I wish to only build a CPU.

thanks in advance.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Mostly the computer will be used for multimedia applications like watching movies and surfing. Occasionally I will also use
1. Adobe Photoshop 2. RawTherapee 3. Photomatix Pro 4. ArcSoft Panorama Maker 5. AVS Video Converter

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: Within 20K

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No :-(

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 7

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: About 250Gb is okay, as I use external storage drives.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: I plan to use my Panasonic 50 inches Plasma TV as display along with an older HP z2440 monitor.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: I don't plan to buy Speakers, Keyboard & Mouse, DVD drive.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: This month.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Yes I did built my older machine.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: In Pune. I wouldn't prefer buying online

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: No.

AMD FX 4100 - 6.2k

Mobos : I've narrowed it down to these two.
Gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3 Motherboard | Motherboard | Flipkart.com - 5k
ASUS M5A88-M Motherboard | Motherboard | Flipkart.com - 5.5k

Both are micro ATX.

The rest what quicky008 suggested.

Forget about intel rig in your case.
AMD Bulldozer/Vishera (if you can wait till December) offers much more firepower for multithreaded multimedia software.

You got 12 GB Ram, I think three sticks of 4GB models. In that case your RAM will not run at a proper dual channel configuration, rather than will use a Hybrid Dual channel mode where two 4GB rams will work in dual channel and the third on single channel config.
