i love my india?

So lets be practical and leave all patriotic feelings aside. These are the problems i am facing, i completely had it with this place:

1) No broadband: if you call that measly 2 mbps dataone with montly limit ,broadband! why cant i have a 20 mbps cheap and unlimited connection?

2) i cant get the latest hardware without shelling out truckloads of cash. most of the latest hardware in india has heavy tax on it. people stare at me if i am playing some game on my psp and think that i ran from a mental centre if i have my ep 635 in my ears.

every 4th guy comes and ask "bhaiya yeh konsa chinese set hai?" (refering to the psp) . " bhaiya kya yeh battery se chalta hai?"

3) i went out to buy a good pair of raw slim straight fit jeans.. like hardware, most fashion stores dont have the latest "models" . they all have @%y clothes. i coudnt find a decent jean! the brands available like levis, lee ,wrangler, spykar, etc etc dont cut it for me..

the higher end ones sell stuff at a premium. when i couldnt find a decent jean at these stores , i went to a mall which had a brand named "GAS" . the price of the jean was 6000 rupees but i didnt like it. it was completely overpriced.
why cant we have brands like apc , nudie jeans , acne etc in our god forsaken country?

a) in our colleges why cant they have an updated syllabus. why do they teach us how to program on that boring borland c++ everywhere? why does every single computer in the lab has windows xp and ie 6 on it which almost crashed on me twice in 15 mins , why cant we have linux in our college.why dont they teach us something that actually useful and fun?why dont they have textbooks as informing and fun as computer mags and websites. i study 2nd year engineering in IT . why doesnt any teacher know anything about IT? why do students get 100/100 in a computer subject but dont know how to use a mouse? why do they teach me maths when i dont want!?

4) i am having a hard time in college because all the people in the college seem like noobs. i listen to music like led zepplin , nirvana , plain white Ts , some classic rock oldies , underground hip hop etc, but these people find me strange and tell me to listen to good music like sonu nigam and pritam ( which i know is copied music). i tell them this but they dont care.

5) And most people here wont appriciate movies like "the pianist" or "the beautiful mind" . they will reject a movie without even watching just because its in english. then they will happily watch that movie dubbed in hindi ( which loses all its charm of originality) . or watch bollywood movies which are ripped off from the same movies..

6) people in my college never seem to appriciate the best things in life which i appriciate ,like digit .. none has any reading habit . nothing.

In India, be grateful for what you have. If the damn thing works and gives you even those 2 MBPS, thank the lord every morning.

Ah now, a lot of pople appreciate those movies, A Beauiful Mind, is right there at the top for me and many othes on this forum. And, Bollywood does have some really nice movies too. Give credit where due.

It will come with time,we have a large no. of people to feed unlike some other countries,although Information penetration is a direct indication of informed educated masses but you dont really care about the nuclear deal when you have empty stomach.

No wonder,Indian politics sux,afaik Intel wanted to start a plant here in India(a huge one) which could have brought down proccy prices quite a bit but Indian politicians managed to fuk it somehow.

And don't blame the masses,PSP is indeed ugly and huge just like my Zune,So just nod at whatever they say,like me.Ignorance is a bliss.

@threadstarter. How does it matter what people think? If you areplaying a game on ur psp, be happy playing it. Dont wander around and thus, be free of the comments that come your way.

The clothes you are talking about are mostly outsourced by companies. The levis jeans you wear may acutally be a product of bangladesh, ripped and cleaned with a Levi's sticker on top. Just get hold of a good tailor and tell him your specifications, Get your denim printed and do whatever you want. You get quality material in India.

taking of hardware,well ya...India is a late riser in this field. The prices are on the higer side.Btw, if you are bashing India, look at what Uk has to offer.The Ps3 costs about 300 pounds there and the games about 30-40 pounds each..India rox.

Nothing against the Education system in India, more than 25% of the people working in top companies are Indians and with our crap system we seem to do quite good.

As for your college friends,my friends in college are rock and m0vie freaks...if you are to blame, blame your college or locality.

Btw, you should also know that while in India, you are provided with cheap medicinal help. A doctor in the Uk charges uyou 100 pounds for a visit, unless you have an insurance. If your care goes down the drain, 100 pounds for an hour till it gets repaired.

Forget that, I coudn't get a simple basic blue denim from the over-hyped Levi's, for whatever price possible. Are we Indians wearing only monkey wash/ rugged/ otherwise stylised denims?? Why is the "stone wash" variety?

dudes, ok i'll keep it short: only thing thats cheap in the US is tech hardware/gadgets. rest everything from health care to a household maid cost serious $$$$. and forget abt education. believe me India is not as bad as it seems.

I too have my list of problems but I have learnt to live with it for the last 30 yrs....Apart from all the problems (they will continue to exist), two things which strike me most is:

(i) Have some traffice rules in place and punish rogue drivers heavily to avoid accidents and rash driving.

(ii) Cut down on power cuts. It's really frustrating when you return home after a strenous day at work or you are getting ready to sleep at night, you become ready to switch on the fan at full speed or the AC, and voila, the power goes off for a minimum of an hour.

On the lighter side, if you are so frustrated, do something in the lines of Rang De Basanti.
