I already have a Phenom 2 x4 965/hd6670 (dead ) rig .
Need this for just browsing and simple tasks at my new place.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run?
Ans:web browsing mainly up to 10 tabs ,movies ,occassionally old games like project igi 2 ,gta sa ,ping pong ,chess , pre 2010 games

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans:5-8k (used/new)

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans:no

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans:7

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans:160 gb and above

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans:dont need monitor.(18.5 ",768p)

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ansont need Monitor,Cabinet,K.B,Mouse,PSU,GPU,UPS,Optical Drive
Just need CPU,MB,RAM,HDD

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans:within 1 week

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans:yes ,no.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans:Trivandrum,Kerala.Both local(olx)/online

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans:Willing to buy used/new parts ,im getting core2duo,motherboard,2gb ddr2 ram ,250 gb HDD around 4k.is it a good deal?

Considering you dont need it for gaming and C2D can handle 2010 games (and evolve too ) , get these

C2D - 1k
G41 mobo - 2k(?)
4GB DDR3 RAM - 1.5k
250GB HDD - 1.5k

consider the RAM least. 2GB won't handle 10 tabs.


You can also look at C2Q ~2k if you want.

Thanks.No c2qs are available.but c2d with 2gb-ddr2 ram ,I will buy another 2 gb.is it possible for a new combo with cpu ,mb ,ram and hdd around 10 k? 160 gb hdd is enough.

you'll be wasting you money. Get second hand stuff, it'll be better. You can get ddr2 4GB. It'll be almost same.

With DDR4 launch possible within this year, don't get DDR2 IMHO.

What I meant was that DDR2 is already obsolete and getting a replacement if it dies would be a PITA IMO.

There is also a "higher "4 core sempron clocked at 1.30 ghz ,im wondering why they have underclocked when a 3 + ghz amd dualcore performs worse than a comparatively lower clocked intel dual core.

how can a ddr2 motherboard and specially a LGA 775 cpu have 1 year warranty ? Anyway, the motherboard, cpu and ram is only worth about 3.5k. So you are not getting anything extra or special [ may be only the HDD ] but the AMD setup I've suggested to you is far more power efficient.
