how to provide different name to server address

see iam on a client server framework and i want to access some application on my machine then i write it as localhost/application name and it starts but from client if i have to start it i will write : server ip address/application name , now problem starts i want people just to write hello in their internet explorer bar from client and application should start , i dont want to make changes in client's host file entry as i have more than 300 clients so to make change in everybody's host file is next to impossible please help??????

Although I am not sure, but I think you need a domain name and 2-3 IP's, hve to create nameserver in your server assign those nameserver to your domain, when client enter that domain name application will start.
