Every sata cable is 6 gbps, its the SATA port that matters not the cable

But when I searched in ebay and amazon and found out that sata 6 Gbps cable priced abt 122 INR and normal ones about 30 INR. Is this a marketing gimmick..

all sata cables are same but cheap ones have poor build quality & hence greater chances of failure.btw for mechanical hdd(aka non-ssd) sata3 is useless as they won't even fully utilize sata1 speeds.to make it simpler sata1 is 1.5gbps=(1.5*1024)=1536mbps=(1536/8)=192MB/s.have you ever seen ~190MB/s speeds on a hdd?

All cables can provide 6 Gbps throughput. The ones that are marked are nothing more than marketing hoots. Aah but there are certain speciality cables: glow-in-the-dark, sleeved groups of cabled, angled SATA cables with small locking thingy, rounded SATA cables, long SATA cables, short SATA cables (for HTPC, tiny PCs, etc.), SATA cables with better quality jacket/ long, short, blue, black, pink, yellow, etc. I never had problems with standard SATA cables, but I preferred the ones with locks like the ones you would mostly get it with motherboards.
