How to install stuff on External HDD

I have a 500gb External HDD(Buffalo).
1)Can i install stuff to it,Because i dont have much place in my computer.
2)Is there a way to combine to drives Say D and f?

yes. But I am not very sure how the performance will be. Keep the HDD plugged in at all times. just select that space like you normally do while installing S/W

EASUS and other packages allow for merging partitions residing on the same HDD.

Installs onto external drive working okay depends on the specific software that is installed. Some do, some won't, most must anyway.

Ill think of merging it.Cause the drive i have steam on has little space remaining.
And tf2 requires 10 gig.and skyrim another 5-8 gigs(+future updates)

about merging your internal and external HDDs partitions : ( look at the above answer

EASUS and other packages allow for merging partitions residing on the same HDD.

so you can't merge the partitions of the external and internal HDDs - only thing you can try is ( if you don't need to use the external HDD as a portable one ) - you can extract the HDD from external HDDs casing and use this as a internal one ;-)

Im using it as a portable one ;).If i merge it,Steam will eat up all the place.
Or i have to wait still HDD prices Fall down

but it's worth it for all those nice and addictive games ;-)

you can wait or a grab a WD black Ed. HDD which even now has 5 years warranty - so paying ~7k for 1TB still makes sense ;-)

else buy wd blue 500gb from flipkart @ 4.3k. carries 3yr warranty acc to flipkart

yes. i felt same. to be of old stock, they must have 1000s of HDD. my friend will get one next week. will check then how valid is flipkart's claim.

Anyway, Flipkart is also showing 3 yrs. warranty on Asus DVd Drive and 2 yrs. on Seagate HDD :
