How to delete the hard disk password?

Hi Guys, I was trying to protect my hard disk by putting a booting time password. I was successful in doing that by going to BIOS and then Security. But now when I don't need the password and want to disable it, I'm not able to do that. Even putting space in place of new password text box doesn't work.

I use a Dell Inspiron 1545 model.

How can I delete the already set password?

Reset the jumper. Remove the battery for 5mins and then boot again. The password should get removed.

or when it prompts you to enter new password dont type space just hit enter without entering any character.
it will remove your password.

do what vishalgmistry have suggested. Enter BIOS>change HDD password>enter old password>just press enter. this will clear the password.
