how to clean fans of my notebook??

Im encountering overheating probs in my Acer 5742G laptop so i've decided to clean the fans.are there any online tutorials to guide me in this?? this will be the 1st time i'm opening my laptop so i'm a bit sceptical
here's the confiq
intel core i3-380M
nvidia GT540M
3gb RAM
500bgb HDD
also,i've read that i will need "compressed air" to clean my lappy's fans,is there any other way to clean it?
i will post pics of my lappy soon,please help me guys!!

^^ IMO thats 3rd gen.i5. There is a 3rd gen. i7 available @ flipkart. Its model is i7-3xxx.
So, might be this too is a 3rd gen. one.

the config in my siggy is just imaginary/just for bragging, the config which i specified in the OP is the real one
put real config in siggy

I very well know about that but I was shocked on mobile Ivys which are still not out AFAIK.
