How to change the Video Card Bus Speed?

I have a AMD 1.5Ghz athlon pc,with a XFX GForce 5200 256 mb card,my motherboard is Asus 4x.The card has been underperforming since i bought it.Recently i discovered it is down to the fact that it is running at 0x or 1x speed,while its capable of running till 8x.Now how and where do i change these settings so as to enbale it to work at it's optimal settings.

i dont think it shud work on 1x if ur motherboard supports 4x.It shud and will work max on 4x.

Pls give ur motherboard manufacturer and specifications

Didnt the author write ASUS 4X ? Check the bios for AGP/PCI-e options

The problem lay with the fact that i had forgotten 2 install my Chipset,so it was getting detected as a PCI device.Once i installed it changed to AGP 4X,but still the graphics card is underperforming.It still gives a score 1200 on 3dmark03,it still struggles on lot of games.I don't know why it is underperforming.Is it becasue my motherboard 4x and my card is 8x??The fact is that on games like Doom or Fifa2006 it struggles even if i put it on the lowest settings.My friend has a GForce 5200 128,but 8x motherboard and his graphics is lightyears away from mine despite my being a GForce 5200 256 with 4x Motherboard.So i know something else is wrong.Could you sugges any thing on wat it cud be and what i could do

Yours 5200 GPU may be 64-bit and your friends might be 128-bit GPU>
I do know that 256MB 5200 GPUs are mostly 128-bit but still i do feel u may have got 64-bit one.

You can use the inbuilt diagnostic report provided by 3d mark 03 to give analysis for your graphics subsystem, i.e. how much memory, memory interface (64-bit or 128-bit), which version of pixel shaders it supports, etc.

One excellent tool for getting the above report is the application called rivatuner, available from www.guru3d.com. It will give all detailed reports and also unlocks the overclocking capabilities of the graphics card. 8) from both the application itself and also from the forceware control panel.

Try the report from rivatuner and give us the report. As someone else pointed out, it might be 64-bit version.

i got a 3dmark03 score of 1254.Is tat good score for my card?the pixel shader is 2.0.i am not sure wat that means.
