How to boost Download speed??

Hi to all!
I am using 56 Kbps Modem.The file transfer rate is very slow.
I've tried nearly everything.Internet boosters etc.don't work
Ondinary download speed is 1.5Kbps(w/o using any software)
With Free Download Manager,it reaches to 3.5Kbps.Flashget v1.4 gives the speed of 5.5 Kbps.I want to maximise the download speed.
How do I do it? ?
What is the download speed limit on this connection? ?
Pls Help.

U said 56kbps

and by default download managers show speed in kBps.
So 5.5kBps gives 44.0kbps (5.5 x 8).

At max u will get 7kBps.

May be i am wrong, so correct me if i am wrong.

d/w speed can't be increased. i had a dialup similar to u but it used to gv me 1.0~5.0 kbps @ day and during night 5.5~10.0 kbps. If u really wanna increase ur d/w speed, d/w @ night. To increase browsing speed use Google Web Accelrator. *webaccelerator.google.com/ Without GWA our internet bill used to be from 1k~3k. But with GWA it decreased to .5k~1k

Download speeds on dial up connections are highly variable, and can be utilised to the fullest using a download manager or accelerator. So if you are using flashget, its cool. The speeds depend on a lot of factors such as traffic, signal quality, noise and wiring. Even using accelerators, your speed may be highly variable, which is normal.

go for Reget ver. 4 its easy to use and its good.

For download manager use flashget or free download manager.

To accelerate the web use google web accelerator.
But keep in mind that there won't be any great improvement in browsing speeds.

Also use Proxomitron.It is a proxy software which blocks gif's,banners & other nuisances & increase your browsing speed.

Just keep using Flash Get.

so ppl still use slagnet! I thought it's era is over.. I'm on Indian BB (256kbps) from @least 3yrs

I'ld suggest u to do the same. It's much cheaper & faster now. Any of the major bb players'll give 56kbps for dirt price! Not to insult, but REAL cheap.
