I posted the same problem in QnA section but didn't get enough replies so I am posting here again.I hope I will get the help I need here.

I have a core two duo processor E6300@1.86GHz.I just downloaded speed fan and it shows my cpu temp. to be:

Cpu: 51c
internal temp.: 39c
remote temp: 45c
hd0: 40c
core0: 54c
core1: 52c

I don't know much about the temperatures but there is a burning sign on cpu,core0,and core1 temperatures which has scared me.

Is the temp. normal or I need to do something?

I think the temp. musta been much higher in past months as the climate is much cooler now.

EDIT:I checked with my friend who has the same PC as me and he found out the temp. to be much cooler about 36c:cpu and around 40c:cores.This is scary.

While 51 isn't something to lose hair upon, it certainly is hotter than it should be. How good is your cooling in the cabinet?

maintain a good airflow or put a fan near it if that would help, also u cud try being in a airconditioned environment and if that doesent help, wel u cant just open the laptop so try going to techies

There is a coolermaster(at least the sticker claims it to be a coolermaster) fan(small one I guess) just above the heatsink and for the past two days I have opened my cabinet to allow full air flow but still no relief.

BTW My company made PC is still under warranty can I claim a replacement(of processor or heatsink) or atleast a reapir?

Please download coretemp i don't think speed fan is reliable.Coretemp is made for core 2 duo. It'll show the right temperature.

I have core temp.(version 0.95.4) too harvik and it shows the same temperatures i.e. core0:53 and core1:51.It also shows Tjunction:85c although I don't know what is that.

And yes thanks for replying.

Tjunction is maximum temperature to shutdown and for core 2 duo its 85C

I have a long thread of the same issue & my vendor told me just chill.............................nothing to worry about I did many thing but could not get the cpu temp at 35-37 degrees.
Here is the link to that post *www.thinkdigit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49815

Mine is the same processor, I changed 2 cabinets, 2 PSU refitted the processor but it still runs at 46 degree & my vendor said u burn it as much as u can, he will get it replaced under 3 year warranty.

He said so bcoz Intel core 2 dou have built in shield to shut down the comp at 85 degree, so u actually cant burn the processor. Running it hot actually does not indicate any problem as such except that you always keep in mind that ur friends comp is running cooler.

Mine is running perfectly, I over clock at times & the temp goes upto 60 degree even then it runs fine I have no problem, I was thinking to get gemini CPU cooler but still have not bought it. Its known to bring down temp by 7-10 derees.

If u visit any international forum & report that urs is running at 51 & ur friend at 35, they would say even 35 is higher, most of them would aim at 25-28 bcoz they use aftermarket heatsink fans.

Just chill u wont burn ur processor, though in my long post on the same issue I concluded that the difference is due to heatsink is not flat & it needs "lapping" thats the only thing I did not try.................that option is still open, but I am running fine though its hot as posted in screenshot below. Thisi was taken in summer time now it runs cooler at around 46-49, but the point I am making is that at higher temp too it was working fine.

Sorry choto cheeta for double posting but I didn't get enough responses in that section.

Ok my final question What can I do to lower my PC'c high temp.?I am currently on stock cooling.

first of all, clean ur cabinet .. remove all the dust . then try to clean ur stock heatsink ..and apply some arctic silver mx 2 thermal paste on ur cpu ..

also put some exhaust fans on the back .. put as many as ur case permits .. normally max 2 80mm or 1 120 mm fan ... also try to put one 80 mm intake fan at the front bottom side of ur cabinet if it has place for one ..

try this .. if it does not help and u can spend upto 3 k then, get thermalright ultra 120 extreme cpu cooler .. will solve ur all problems..:)

^^thats good man p4 is suppoed to produce more heat owing to it's 90nm core compared to 60nm core of core2duos.

But suggest something guys which will help me solve my problem.I don't want a fried e6300.

yesterday i assembled a C2D E4400 PC for my frnd .the cpu fan got entangled in the wires and the proccy temp shot up to 96 degrees .i was out o breath for a moment but rectified the prolbm soon.

most important thing for cpu cooling .get a big cabby with lots of air vents and place more fans for exhaust in d cabby.
