help regarding harddisk problem

Hello friends,
my pc is about 3 years old,
it has 2 ide hdd
1=120 gb samsung pata-master [2 years old] containg xppro
2=160 gb samsung -slave [1 year old]for data storage

everything was working fine,also smart is not saying anything
then previous week i had to go outstation[so turned off eveything]
and then yesterday i came back and turned on the computer
and suddenly some sound of kirck-kirck or some click click-
don't know heard for the first time,
and bios showed detecting disks .then boot was slow
and on boot 160gb disk is not showing anywhere in computer management or anything

now diskvendor is saying he will replace/repair the disk but data will be gone certainly and he has no idea about it,
but i dont have anybackup of data and have very important projects related works on it[as disk was new ,so i didn't done any backup,didn't thought it can break suddenly ]

so now can you suggest some software that can recover the data from this disk or what to do?
i am searching for solution.

disk is showing in bios,but not in xp

i think your harddisk will be ok now you can check your harddisk as follows
make your this one (second disk)as master by setting jumpers. then try to boot from bootable cd.then check your drive if shows or if you are able to check that then it is ok otherwise your vendor is right.chck first as above and write here.
