The IP which we get using command is not the IP given by our ISP..rather it is IP of our LAN card.

And the IP of the LAN card is most of the time the IP address given by the ISP unless you are using a NAT enabled modem.

I think U have little confusion in this.
That is not IP given to your connection by ur ISP.

That is IP of the local network.
The default gateway of modem is generall 192.168.1.1
Than , the Ip of the LAN card should be in series: 192.168.1.xx

Where xx-->> 2 to 254

That is not your internet IP.

If you want to know the current IP of your connection than just visit this site:
*www.ip-adress.com/

You can see your IP.

^^ are yaar, that is exactly what i told. If you use a cable modem and do ipconfig, you will get your external IP. That is why I told NAT. If you're not using a NATTED Network and you do ipconfig, you will see your actual IP and not your local IP. Don't get confused.

yaa.
Incase of cable connection you get a particular IP.
But not in case of DSL technology.

See, this has nothing to do with DSL or cable technology, the bottom line is, if you are behind a NAT enabled modem, then if you do IPCONFIG, you will get the local IP. There are ADSL modems without NATTING which is a direct USB link from the modem which has no extra ports, if you do an IPCONFIG when connected to one such modem, regardless of whether you are using BSNL broadband or sify cable, you will get the external IP.

So, don't get confused, this has nothing to do with DSL or Cable technology. It has got to do only with the type of modem you are using. If a modem has got NAT enabled, then when you do IPCONFIG you will get the local IP but if NAT is disabled, you will get public IP.
