All of which I saw were more pricey than z170?
U know about some?

I probably would have to shell out like 20K additional for an X99 compared to a Z170.
But is it worth the stretch?
Coz just on the z170 ,I seem to be on the Apex of my budget, managing 20K additional would be tough.

One straight difference that I saw was getting a hexcore processor on X99.
But gaming wont benefit too much from a 6 core chip.
Yeah, I agree dx12 titles are more benefited with more cores but devs have to include this feature while coding.
Also even after 3-4 years when dx12 is up and running(with a nice sample space of games), i dont think a 4core processor would be redundant.
Would it?

How much of a difference would a Hexcore chip make in videorendering wrt to quad core chip??(asking)

Z170 offeres lower voltages(consecutively less heat output)
So, is X99 worth the price hike..

x99 is different socket for 6800, won't fit 6700
I know, asking just to get some perspective.
I don't have much experience with Haswell that's why..

Both systems would likely perform similarly with the 5820k having the edge, but the X99 has so much more room and frankly you may want that for your intended work like video rendering. Its more lanes - its memory channels and CPU options too.
Go with X99 with i7 5820k if your intended use is rendering
Go with Z170 with i7 6700k if your intended use is not so much rendering but great gaming rig.

My need will be like 60% gaming and rest 40% rendering. I need a decent mic and a headphone too.
These two alone would cost me 20K, 25K if i get me a DAC.

20K additional for a X99 system, is getting a bit north of the budget.
Thats why I wanted to know. How much of a differnce in video rendering does 5820K makes over 6700?
Do you have a link that tells it in terms of some numbers?
