So according to the forums it will run smoother if we keep the game at the desktop resolution.My desktop res is 1440X900 and that means i can run at that res..wow...

ignoring everything i ordered the game and will get it on tuesday :p , i hope it runs ok.. or by tweaking atleast.. then if R* releases some patch it will be best.. but by the refunding they have done in other locations it is very unlikely that a patch is coming soon.. :( , i love GTA and cannot wait to go crazy with it :(

has it arrived in stores in Mumbai like Chroma, Planet M etc. And has anybody actually purchased the game(no 0×0008, fuber etc. plz) and played it. Is the fps and missing texture issue really that bad?

Where did you order it from?

If you manage to run the MP,find R* developers and beat the crap out of them:p(this is an achievement too:D)

^^Yeah that wud be a gud MP mode."Beat the Devs" mode like teh zombie mode in COD5.Endless hordes of R* developers attacking a gaming parlour screaming "We want money...We want money..." and we defending the parlour with bazookas and shotguns shouting "Take that fking GTA DVD and shove it up ur A$$" in Chris Tucker style.

I got this game despite of various warnings and now i think i have wasted my money if there is no patch available sooner or later . My system specs are as follows
amd6000 , 2gb kingston dual channel ram , 500gb eSATA disk with an 512mb xfx 7850gtx . Even on the lowest of the settings i hardly get above 25fps .
In crowded areas game lags like hell and some later missions cannot be completed because of the framerate issue . Now i am stuck with only driving fast cars .
Even crysis ran smoother than this on high settings on my system .
This is the first original dvd that i have purchased and err... what a waste .

Driver News

Patch Is On The Way
We are working on making a patch available in the next few days. Since Grand Theft Auto IV is a Games For Windows – Live game the patch must be certified by Microsoft before release. The patch is already at Microsoft and we expect a speedy approval.
The patch contains a variety of fixes including:

-A fix to the crash after legal screen that some German customers were reporting.
-Numerous improvements to the video editor: Smarter naming of videos, improved rendering quality, better fx during replays
-Fix to bowling while using certain sensitive mice
-Fix for ATI 1900 shadows
-Overall savings to memory
-Graphic improvements to particle systems and mirrors
-Multiplayer character settings are preserved
-Support for DirectInput controllers. Note: The current hack way of supporting these controllers may not work with the improved functionality. So we recommend you remove the hack before upgrading to the patch.

Issues with power management software have also been fixed (slow speed, double speed issues). Even after the patch comes out setting power management software to maximum performance is recommended. We’ve seen cases where power management software does not detect the game is running and puts the CPU in green mode.

Besides the patch we’ve also improved the way the Social Club handles data this should have greatly reduced or eliminated the Mma10 error. If you are still receiving this error after logging in and out of Social Club we would like to know as much info as you can about it.

Information Needed For Troubleshooting
We want everyone to experience Grand Theft Auto IV on the PC the way it was intended. To that end, we will continue to monitor the forums for any and all issues users are having, and respond whenever possible. We would greatly appreciate it if people with unresolved problems could post some information about their PC configuration in this thread for us. Please include the following information:

-Where exactly in the game you experienced the issue (start screen, while playing the game, etc.)
-What version of the game you have (retail, steam, other online store)
-What is your OS
-Benchmark info or DxDiag is also helpful


Rockstar Games Social Club Application Info
Due to the high volume of new Social Club users, some users may have experienced periods of time where they are unable to log into their Social Club account using the Rockstar Games Social Club application. If you are unable to log in using the Rockstar Games Social Club application, please skip the login process by clicking "Skip Login" or run in offline mode by clicking "Start in Offline Mode". This is meant as a temporary solution to allow users to play GTA IV PC, so please continue to periodically retry your login as we are working hard to promptly address any lapses in service.

A small number of users have reported the Rockstar Games Social Club application encountering a fatal error, preventing them from playing GTA IV PC. One possible solution is to uninstall the .NET Framework (from Add/Remove Programs) and reinstall it by downloading it from *www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en. If you continue to run into fatal errors in the Rockstar Games Social Club application, please contact Rockstar Games support.

For those wanting to purchase the legit copy, it' available at Alfa for Rs. 425. My friend got his copy from Milestone Interative directly & also checked Alfa for this price.

Ran his benchmark & was extremely frustrated. Here's a run down:

PC Config:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (@default stock speed)
2GB OCZ DDR II 800Mhz RAM
GeCube ATI Radeon HD4870
Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit with SP1

Setting used was 1280x1024 with texture quality at medium & render quality at high. Rest bars didn't even exceed 20 bars. FPS achieved, a shocking 22fps with constant drops to 15 fps. We even tried lowering resolution & also every other setting present but nothing worked the frames barely budged. This game virtually has no scaling whatsoever. Chucked it out of frustration.

4GB DDR2 800 Mhz RAM
8800GTS 512 G92(Only one card coz SLI is useless)
Vista Ultimate 32-Bit with Service Pack 1 and the Nvidia 180.48 drivers.

Well tried everything what was said in their forum , like changing the resolution updating the firmware but nothing helps . I want my 475 bucks back , now i realize why they didnt release a demo version .
I should have downloaded this too:-x but it is 13gb!! setup .
