Good Mid Range PC (15K Budget)

Hi.. I'm looking to build a decent mid range system under the budget of 15000. The budget is a little flexible.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans:
Mostly multimedia, movies etc.. and little gaming (games like nfs hp 2, fear 3, fifa 12 etc)

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans:
15K, can be increased upto 18K.

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans:
No.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans:
Windows 7 Ultimate.

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans:
500 GB. 360GB will do too.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans:
No. I'm planning to hook it to my Sony Bravia 16" LCD tv.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans:
Everything outside the System Unit.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans:
ASAP.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans:
No, but it will be my first attempt.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans:
Ghaziabad, UP. I'l buy the stuff locally. And yes, I buy stuff online.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans:
Nothing else I guess. Just that I'm new to the forum, so if I made any mistakes, please feel free to point it out! Also, please try to suggest a balanced system in the mentioned budget. The budget is only for the stuff inside the System Unit.

Thanks in advance!

Your budget is actually very very tight to work with. atleast you have a monitor.

Let me try though:-

processor:- pentium g620- Rs.3300
motherboard:- asrock h61m-u3s3 / gigabyte ga-h61-d2h / asus p8h61 - ~Rs.3000
RAM:- corsair 4 gb value ram:- Rs.1200
HDD:-wd caviar blue 500gb- Rs.4300~
optical drive- asus drw-24b3st- Rs.1000
Kb+mouse:- get anything@ Rs.400/500
PSU*- corsair cx 430v2- rs.2350
case/(case+psu)- generic- Rs.1000~

Rs.16,650~ if you choose to get the good power supply(psu) corsair cx 430 v2. It is highly recommended that you do get it.

Now the problem is you mentioned games! A decent gpu will exceed your budget. even a gt 240 will be around 3k. That will take your budget to 19k+.
And do not even think about sacrificing the power supply to get the gpu unless you wan't your system to get fried.

Thanks for the info! :-D

Also.. could you mention a decent graphics card in the range 5K-6K. If it will run games like Max Payne 3 with a good fps, I'l get it!

You can pick up the radeon 6770 in about 6-6.5k.
If not an hd 6670 will do I guess.

But 6770 is way better than 6670

P.s:- once again, do not compromise on your power supply unless you want the new pc to blow up.

navneetagarwal,

Processor:AMD A6 3650 Processor-5.6k
Motherboard:ASUS F1A55-M LX PLUS-3.6k
Ram:Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4 GB (1 x 4 GB) PC RAM (CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9)-1.6k
HDD:-wd caviar blue 500gb- 3.7k
Optical drive- asus drw-24b3st-1k
Kb+mouse:- get anything@ Rs.400/500
PSU- corsair cx 430v2-2.2k
Case- generic- Rs.700

Total-18k(approx)

^ True but OP did ask for a card in the 5-6k range. So there you have your gpu :)

19k+5k=24k will be way out of Op budget.

Buddy if u are looking for a decent graphics card fro your rig within a price range of 5-6k then go for Forsa NVIDIA GeForce GT 440 4 GB DDR3 or else if u can slightly upscale ur price range then go for Zotac NVIDIA Geforce GTX 550 Ti 1 GB GDDR5

Here are the links to get these online at very prices stated by you.

GTX 440

GTX 550

Cheers.

^^ Yes ofcourse he can go for that but i was suggesting him for the green cards but the ATI HD 6670 is also a good choice to make and its cheaper too. So +1 For u.

Thank you all for the info! :-D

Jripper If i increase the budget a little and go with Zotac NVIDIA Geforce GTX 550 Ti 1 GB GDDR5 graphics card as somulesnar suggested, will it balance with the config you suggested? As in there won't be any compatibility problems right?
or would you suggest anything else that would get me more bang for the buck for a little more money? :-D

buddy no need to worry about that. The gtx 550 would be a perfect combo with the rig suggested by Jripper. The rig itself has got a 430 V power supply which is more than enough for the 550 to run on it.

And about the compatibilty issues, the board itself is an intel based mobo so there's no issue for either of the cards i.e. ATI 6670 or the NVIDIA 550. There's is one plus point with the 550 is the physx aspect in it which can be realized by jaw dropping performances in some gaming titles.

No that GPU is fine for your needs.

However, the nvidia 550ti costs almost 8-8.5k.(The 550ti can be a bad option though, since it consumes a buttload of power and performs similar to the lesser priced hd6770). You are advised to go with the 550ti only if you can't live without using "physx" in games(which is a bit of a gimmick if you ask me,but thats just me).
So your ati options are:-
1.) hd6790(more performance),
2.) hd 7750(epic low power consumption)
or
3.) hd 6770(same performance).

And if you can find it..I heard some gigabyte hd 7770 was going for around 8.5k. if you find it and can manage the moolah, then go ahead and buy it.
(7770 - low power consumption+ performance close to an hd6850)

P.S:- Yes the base of the rig is perfectly balanced and there are no compatibility issues. The boards suggested all have pci express slots so you can fit in any present gen graphics card without any issues.

GTX 550 Ti = high power consumption for the performance offered. Plus, it gets out performed by other cards around the same price point.

Pick up either of HD 6790 or HD 7770. These have better performance than GTX 550 Ti at the same price point. HD 6770 if budget around 6.5K.

My recommendation will be HD 7770 @ 9K. This is a current generation card - 28 nm and is as fast as HD 6850 with the latest drivers.

GTX 550 Ti has one of the worst performance per watt. Check spoiler below: (Higher on the graph is better.)

HD 6670 is a good choice if you are really short of budget @ around 5.5K. Suggesting GT 440 DDR3 @ 5.3K is a joke. Gt 440 is nowhere near HD 6670.

which is a bit of a gimmick if you ask me,but thats just me).
That's not just you. That's pretty much everyone. It _is_ a gimmick.

Cards should be judged from absolute performance. :)

Check here for HD 7770 prices.

MSI R7770-2PMD1GD5/OC Graphic Card

GIGABYTE GV-R777OC-1GD

Otherwise in your budget, I can only see HD 6670 GDDR5 @ 5.5K.
