I'm unable to open Gnome for the root user. This problem started when I once changed the setting of Gnome to open last opened applications i.e., to save the session. When I rebooted and tried to enter Gnome using the root a/c, it just played the starting music and the screen gets hanged with faded orange colour. And to get out of this situation, all I am able to do is kill the x server(Alt + Ctrl + Bksp). Is there any settings file which I can edit to get rid of this bug? I'm able to boot into KDE and execute all commands and applications.

well there was no file named *.tmp. And i am not sure whether the command:
rm /root/.gconfd/saved_state
Was of any help. I executed it anyway.
But it was only after executing:
rm /root/.gnome2/session
that i was able to log into Gnome.
Thanks buddy.
